WinQEMU - a Windows native version of QEMU

Postby celestialwy on Mon Apr 20, 2009 6:06 am

WinQEMU is a Windows native version of QEMU (from 0.10.1). It ports the source code of QEMU to Visual C++ 2008. Consequently, it decouple the compilation of QEMU with the POSIX build environment. Thanks a lot for Fabrice Bellard's great work on QEMU!

I expect this project would make the usage of QEMU more easier for Windows users and developers.
So far, I just provided the binary version.
I will upload the ported source code immediately after updating the licenses in the source code.
A Windows natvie GUI is under developing.

To run WinQEMU, please follow these two steps:
1. Download and set up the VC++ 2008 Redist, download URL: http://sourceforge.net/project/download ... a=95765247
2. Download and unzip the WinQEMU.0.10.1.zip, execute linux.bat to run the preinstalled Linux.img. Of course, you can change the BAT file to install a new OS image. Download URL http://sourceforge.net/project/download ... a=30733783

What is the difference between this and MinGW compiled Qemu? Any benefits from compiling with VisualC++?

Compiling with Visual C++ should be very convenient for modifying and debugging for the Windows developers :D

Do you have any plans to do WinQEMU 0.10.2? I can't wait to see that, ya know. :)

By the way, good work on the project. I'm gonna try out this version once the download has finished.
